Rev. Dr. Sukja Bang was appointed to Ackermanville UMC on July 1, 2018.
Sukja was born and grew up in South Korea. She earned her Bachelor of Theology degree there at the Methodist Theological School, and served at her first few churches in South Korea. Sukja came to America in 1992 in order to enroll in Seminary at the Drew Theological School where she earned her Master of Divinity. She served at Swarthmore UMC for the past five years. Her prior appointment was at Calvary United Methodist Church in Ambler for 10 years.
Her vision for her churches has been to be a church that continues to welcome all people regardless of gender, race, nationality, and sexual orientation, and invites people to the love of Christ, and works together in unity for the Kingdom of God.
Sukja's mother lives with her brother and his family in Korea and she visits them as often as she can. She remains close to them with the use of today's marvelous technology. When she has free time, she loves reading, traveling, cooking, decorating, listening to music and watching movies.
