Rev. Dr. Sukja Bang was appointed to Ackermanville UMC on July 1, 2018.

 
      Pastor Sukja was born and raised in South Korea.  There, she would earn her Bachelor of Theology degree at the Methodist Theological University. Her first assigned church was in South Korea, and from there she served in several other churches in her country.  Sukja came to America in 1992 to further her education in seminary at the Drew Theological School where she earned a Master of Divinity degree. She then decided to continue her education at the Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education at Fordham University in Bronx, New York.  And in May 2021, she earned her Doctor of Ministry degree.    

     Her vision for the church has been to become a church that continues to welcome all people regardless of gender, race, social status, and sexual orientation. She invites all people to share the love of Christ and to the Kingdom work that God has entrusted to us.

     When she has free time, she loves reading, traveling, cooking, decorating, listening to music, watching movies, and playing with her two cats, Toby and Abbey.
